Plastic Beach Trash Speckled Trout Sculpture
Plastic Beach Trash Speckled Trout Sculpture
Tamayo the Speckled Trout honors one of the Gulf Coast's most cherished fish, the state saltwater fish of Texas. Anglers and coastal families know the speckled trout as both tradition and a symbol of the life in Texas waters. Tamayo brings that spirit to life while reminding us of the growing threat from plastic pollution.
His shimmering body was created from thousands of pieces of plastic collected on Boca Chica and South Padre Island beaches. Greens, silvers and yellows once found in the ocean now come from discarded plastic, transformed into art that speaks for conversation.
Every piece of debris was handed cleaned, sorted by color and secured with thousands of screws. Tamayo is more than a sculpture, he's a celebration of Texas heritage and a call to protect the waters and species that define our coast.
